Progress Post: Project 8 pt.1

Day 1

On this day I was still back and forth between what I wanted personally to get out of this painting. I knew I wanted to paint on wood, I knew painting this scene would be cool, but why? As I sketched it out I focused more on the idea of nostalgia and the memories that older movies invoke. At the end of class I was able to get a basic sketch of the layout.

Day 2

On this day I made a lot of progress with my brunaille. I was able to capture the values of a lot of the figures and shapes within the piece. I Also got an idea on the depth, and overall what this piece may end of looking like once I'm complete.

Day 3

On this day I was able to finally get some more color onto the piece. I began with the background sky and was able to get some color on the hotel. By this point though I began to understand how difficult and time consuming it will be do finish the rest of the piece. I'm still a little scared to paint the figures, but I guess we'll see when we get there.
