On the first day I began the oil painting project, I began setting up my composition as well as my canvas. I mainly set up the composition to have an aesthetic positioning as well as good lighting for most of the period on the first day. Finally after setting up everything, I began sketching out what my painting would look like with charcoal. Running out of time, I decided to revise it due to how messy it was in the next day.

Starting the second day, I cleared up some of the rough lines that were a little blurry from the faded charcoal. Most of this day was spent working on the laying down some light shades of black and white. This was to begin the process of a grisaille, and get some more depth overall for the painting. While still very rough with some charcoal exposes, the added layers of thin coats of oil paint created a huge jump in progress from day 1.

On the third day, I continued to work on my grisaille by applying more layers of paint as well as defining mostly the clock and flower. Throughout this point in the painting I began to realize the level of shades and values and how they compare to the surroundings within the composition. There was also the challenge of a change in lighting due to the position of the composition being altered, but I have been able to refer to my original picture of the composition for guidance on lighting.

On day four, I began altering some of my composition due to the challenge in change of composition. One of these changes is most notably the change in positioning of the flower. This change in angles reveals more of the bottle behind it, ultimately making me add a darker value behind the flower. This darker value fortunately adds to the composition of my campus creating a more solidified shape of the flower as it contrasts with the dark background.
