One the first day of painting, I transcribed my initial sketch on to a canvas. I spent most of the class period planning the composition and what I exactly wanted to paint. That is why by the end of the first work day, I only had a sketch completed on the canvas.

On the second painting day of this project, I was able to cover a lot of ground, as seen on the right. I began with a thick red coat, ensuring I have a nice background with no visible brush marks. I continued with applying primarily the greens, also trying to get thick layers on paint down to minimize any form of brush stroke. My goal is to establish strong contrasts in color, with the thick layers of paint almost look like marker. By the end I was able to get some blue as well on the face, but I was only able to do so much with what I have already completed that day.

On the third day, I began painting in a similar way I did the second day. The only difference on this day was the change in shade of blue previously applied, as well as some purple to achieve the darker shadows under the chin as well as by the ear and back of neck.

On the fourth day of working on this project, I covered a lot of ground. While some of the coats of paint are not as thick as the others, and there is still some white of the base canvas showing through, I wanted to try and get as much paint down as possible. I was able to getting almost everything covered, with only highlights in the hair missing, some highlights for the face, as well as removing the white showing from the canvas.
