Sculpture Project

So far this week there has been considerable progress with the culture project. Throughout the week, I began sculpting a pillar, similar to the ones seen on Roman busts out of clay. After rolling clay around a roll to create the cylindrical structure, I carved into it to create patterns and texture. Once finalizing the pillar with sandpaper to file it down, I then began on the second material that would be present in this project, which is a slab of wood. This slab is to go on top of the clay once it has fully dried in the kiln. While working on this slab of wood, I've used a Dremel to create small incisions, while using an orbital sander to create a smooth surface, with slanted edges. This created a more finished feeling with the wood, which would later be glued onto the pillar of clay.
